When I went to the Seoul Tourism Startup Project Showcase
"When I came to Korea five years ago, the food was the most uncomfortable. But using a tour service that informs you of Halal restaurants, it's so convenient."
Sammy Rashad, an Egyptian international student who appeared on the broadcast program "Non-Summit," made the remarks at a talk show held at the showcase of the "Seoul Tourism Startup Project" on the 19th. In addition to Rashad, Wang Shimlin (China) and Michael Ashminov (Bulgaria), who appeared on "Non-Summit" and showed off their conversations, shared their experiences with startup projects.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government held a showcase called "Welcome, this is the first time you've seen such a tourism service" at Euljiro branch of WeWork, Jung-gu, Seoul, to reveal the final results of the Seoul tourism start-up project.
The showcase was organized in April to share the achievements of tourism startups selected through open auditions through 8 to 1 competition and to support the commercialization of the project. Participants directly experienced the results of the startup project at the experience booth set up at the venue prior to the main event, the talk show.
Citizens responded enthusiastically to the "Online Virtual Seoul Walking Tour" (Alice Wonder Lab), which allows visitors to tour Seoul tourist attractions in advance through videos, and the "K-pop Self-Music Video Production Service" (MUSICKING), which uses photos taken during a trip to Korea to make music videos.
At the "Tourism Information Signing Free Multilingual Translation Service" (Plito) experience booth, which won the grand prize in the open audition, citizens took photos of tourist signs or barcodes with their smartphones to experience the translation service. The service provides real-time translation services to tourists in seven languages, including Thai and Vietnamese, at 728 tourist information signs in downtown Seoul.
At the event, new tourism services such as the Seoullo 7017 Tasting Seoul Tour, a food walking tour program where you can try food from nearby restaurants and hear explanations of historical places together, were also introduced.
Kang Tae-an, CEO of Seoul Gastro Tour, said, "We prepared to taste our food as diverse as possible during a short trip," adding, "The most difficult thing was to persuade the restaurant owner who mainly sells expensive set menus to prepare food little by little."
